September 28, 2024: 7th Anniversary Momorial Service of Hisa Sogo

September 28, 2024: Visited my hometown of Wakayama for the seventh anniversary memorial service of my late wife. After the service, family members gathered to have kaiseki cuisine together and reminisce about her. In Zen Buddhism, the seventh anniversary memorial service marks an important milestone in the spiritual journey of the deceased, signifying that they have reached a state of complete fulfillment. It was about a 30-year marriage, with almost equal time spent living in Japan and the United States. Because we often did things together, I sometimes feel as if my wife is still by my side. https://hisaandtetsuya1996.blogspot.com/2024/09/september-28-2024-7th-momorial-service.html?m=1 < Hisa & Tetsuya Sogo > < Memories with Hisa Sogo >

August 13, 2020: Visit to graves of the Sogo family & September 5, 2020: 3rd Anniversary Memorial Service of Hisa Sogo

Aug.13, 2020: Visited graves of the Sogo family in intense heat, as a Japanese custom during Obon. The third mourning of my wife is coming soon. My relegion is a Japanese Zen Buddhism sect called Soto. The Soto sect in Japan was introduced by Dogen. In the Soto sect, meditators face a wall of Zendo hall and sit in lotus position. Life is full of ups and downs, and I will just keep moving forward with the spirit of Daruma. “Fall seven times and up eight times !!” September 5, 2020: 3rd Buddhist memorial service to my wife. https://hisaandtetsuya1996.blogspot.com/2020/08/aug-13-2020-visit-to-graves-of-sogo.html?m=1
